Notice about Doorstep Scammers in Hartley from Kent Police:

We have received reports that residents had people knocking on doors last night (Thursday 22nd March) in Hartley.
The women knocking on doors were claiming to be working on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Care, or
Macmillan nurses. In one case, they did not have any ID, and in another the lanyard around the neck was from the NHS.
Macmillan have been contacted and they have said that they do not carry out door to door campaigns.

Please be cautious when dealing with door step callers. Always use the door chain before opening the door, always check identification, and do not let people into your home.

Analogue Television switch off

In 2012, analogue television will be switched off across Kent.  If you dont have digital television by the time of switchover, you will lose your television channels.

If you are still watching analogue television (five channels or fewer) on any of your sets, you need to convert them to digital. Virtually any existing television can be converted using a Freeview box a digital satellite service or digital cable.

For older and disabled viewers, who may find making the switch difficult, the Switchover Help Scheme is at hand to provide everything you need to switch one television set to digital.

Most eligible people will be asked to pay £40 pounds towards the standard option of help. For eligible people on income-related benefits, its free. This includes easy to use equipment, an approved installer, to supply and install the equipment, and a 12 month aftercare service including a free helpline.

If you are 75 and over or eligible disabled, the Help Scheme will write to you directly and in plenty of time to ask if you want help.

For further information on the Switchover Help Scheme visit visit helpscheme.co.uk or call free on 0800 408 5900.

Many residents have used these neighbourhood pages to find out information about Olivers Mill, New Ash Green and the surrounding areas of Kent.
